Pintu Kumar – VFX/CG Lighting Artist
Lighting is emotion. I craft cinematic worlds by shaping pixels into mood, story, and realism — one frame at a time. With 5+ years in the VFX industry and award-winning experience at The Mill, I specialize in photoreal lighting for films, commercials, and high-end CG projects. I'm passionate about mood, visual storytelling, and blending CG with live-action seamlessly.
Hello Tomorrow! - Apple TV+ (Episodic)
I contributed as a Lighting Artist on Hello Tomorrow!, a live-action series blending retro-futurism with sleek visual storytelling. My role focused on lighting CG spaceships and detailed environments to integrate seamlessly with the live footage. Achieving cinematic realism while matching the show's stylized aesthetic was both a challenge and a rewarding creative experience. As the scene goes on, more delightful futuristic details emerge; the waitress is a robot that resembles Rosie from the classic cartoon The Jetsons, and what Crudup is specifically selling are cheap timeshares and permanent relocations to the coveted “Brightside of the Moon” for working-class mid-westerners, a luxury normally reserved for the rich and famous. It’s a world (whose year is never specified) of dreamy Americana rooted in the 1950s, complete with black and white TV, neon-signed diners and intricate stiff hairdos, albeit one also filled with hover cars, space migration, and distinctly non-1950s racial politics – where black characters never experience racism and interracial relationships pass without comment. We then go to a woman collecting her mail from a floating van “driven” by a chipper animated stork; she is grotesquely crushed between it and her garage door. That unsettling gore is not emblematic of what is to come, with the plot instead focusing on the antics of the sales team that Jack manages, including sarcastic gambling addict Eddie (Hank Azaria); his secret love interest, the level-headed Shirley (Haneefah Wood); the eager-to-please but naive Herb (Dewshane Williams) and Joey (Nicholas Podany) a new recruit with mysterious links to Jack. All give strong, distinct performances, but aside from Azaria, the comedy side of this supposed dramedy is somewhat underwhelming.

UNITED TOGETHER // China Launch Official Cinematic - VALORANT
Lighting for the VALORANT China Launch Cinematic was an exciting opportunity to enhance the game's cinematic storytelling. I focused on creating dynamic and dramatic lighting that matched the intensity of the action while maintaining the game’s distinct visual style. My role involved integrating the lighting with the vibrant environments and characters, ensuring consistency across multiple scenes. It was a great experience to work on such a high-energy project, and seeing how the lighting helped elevate the overall atmosphere was incredibly rewarding.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road – Cinematic Announcement Trailer
Working on this cinematic was an incredible experience. I was part of the lighting team, where I focused on building atmospheric and emotionally driven lighting setups that matched the dark fantasy tone of the Elder Scrolls universe. One of the most exciting challenges was balancing magical effects with realistic environments, making sure each shot had the right depth, contrast, and mood. Collaborating with FX and comp artists, I learned a lot about the subtleties of cinematic storytelling through light — and it was rewarding to see everything come together in such a high-profile trailer.
M&S Food – Commercial Project
I was responsible for lighting the CG character Duckie in this commercial. My focus was on creating realistic lighting that enhanced Duckie’s textures and seamlessly integrated with the food shots. Balancing natural light with the commercial’s warm, inviting atmosphere was a key challenge, but it was rewarding to see how the lighting brought the character to life and complemented the overall visual appeal.

NASCAR - Celebrating 75 years
Lighting for the NASCAR 75th Anniversary project was an exciting challenge. I worked on lighting the CG crowd, stadium, and car replacements, ensuring seamless integration with the live-action footage. My role involved creating dynamic lighting to match the energy of the race and the time of day, while maintaining consistency across all elements. I focused on enhancing realism through natural lighting setups, balancing the intensity of the track with the atmosphere of the crowd, which brought the scene to life.
Smirnoff - We Do Atomic
The "Smirnoff 'We Do Atomic'" commercial was nominated for an Outstanding Compositing & Lighting in a Commercial award at the 22nd Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards
I had the opportunity to work as a Lighting Artist on the Smirnoff "We Do Atomic" commercial, which was nominated for Outstanding Compositing & Lighting in a Commercial at the 22nd VES Awards. My focus was on crafting dynamic lighting that enhanced the stylized energy of the spot, while ensuring seamless integration between CG and live-action elements. It was an inspiring project to be part of, both creatively and technically.

New Murabba: Riyadh’s New Downtown
As a Lighting Artist on the New Murabba cinematic, I helped bring to life a bold vision of Riyadh’s futuristic downtown. My work focused on creating clean, modern lighting that highlighted architectural details, urban scale, and the immersive atmosphere of this visionary environment. It was a unique experience blending realism with innovation to showcase a city built for the future.
